Tottenham Hotspur have one of the best academies in England, and they continue to produce talented players every year. While Spurs endured a dismal 2024/25 Premier League campaign, their loanees performed brilliantly out at their respective clubs and earned a lot of plaudits.
One such player was Alfie Dorrington. The youngster penned fresh terms with Tottenham and went to Aberdeen on loan for the second half of last season, and while he didn’t initially step into the starting lineup, by the end he was a regular, starting the team’s last seven matches. He was unfortunate to score an own goal against Celtic in the Scottish Cup but things ended well for Aberdeen as they overcame Brendan Rodgers’ side in a penalty shootout.
Alfie Dorrington has rejoined Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen on loan for the 2025/26 season.

Good luck, Alfie!
The 20-year-old made 16 appearances for the Dons, earned praises from the fans and won the Scottish Cup. Before going out on loan, Alfie Dorrington made his senior Tottenham debut against Southampton at the St Mary’s Stadium in December 2024, coming on as a substitute in the 5-0 win.
On Saturday, Spurs announced that Dorrington will be returning to Scotland, re-joining Aberdeen on loan for the second straight season.
Given a successful five-month stint last season, Aberdeen fans would have been eager to see the youngster don the famous Red shirt again. And they are going to see him again, but this time for an entire season.
Dorrington has made the right decision to leave the North London club on loan again. The acquisition of highly-rated Japanese Kota Takai, as well as the return of Luka Vuskovic from a strong loan spell at KVC Westerlo, means a pathway to break into the first team at White Hart Lane was extremely difficult. Plus, Thomas Frank already has five experienced centre-backs in his ranks (if one counts Ben Davies too).
Thus, a move back to Aberdeen, where he quickly adjusted to the demands of the Scottish Premier League and delivered some strong displays, makes a lot of sense. Jimmy Thelin’s side enter the Europa League at the play-off stage and start their season with a trip to face Hearts in the Scottish Premiership on 4 August.
If the Scottish side manages to advance past the Europa League play-off stage and enter the actual competition, Dorrington would also get some valuable experience of playing in Europe.
