Current and former Celtic players including Scott Sinclair, Josip Juranovic and Luke McCowan all wished Greg Taylor good luck for his pastures new in Greece…
On Tuesday, it was officially announced that the left-back had completed a free transfer from the Scottish champions to Greek outfit PAOK.
After spending over five years in Glasgow, Taylor has signed a three-year contract with the Thessaloniki-based side.
Following the announcement of his transfer, the 27-year-old shared a farewell video on Instagram that drew responses from numerous current and former Celtic teammates, displaying how well-liked Taylor was in the dressing room.
Current Celtic midfielder Luke McCowan wrote: “You will be extremely missed, especially by me.”
Hoops defender Auston Trusty quipped: “What a guy and what a player. All the best brotha.” While 23 year-old shotstopper Viljami Sinisalo commented: “All the best mate. What a man.”
Scott Sinclair, who was a revelation for Brendan Rodgers during his first spell at the club said: “All the best, geez,” meanwhile Shane Duffy commented: “Good luck wee man, smash it!”
Jonny Hayes, who spent a season alongside Taylor at Celtic, wrote: “Brilliant, pal! All the best with the next chapter.”
Ex-Hoops right-back Josip Juranovic posted an Instagram story which said: “Brother, good luck in Greece.” While another member of Ange Postecoglou’s trophy-laden Celtic side Joe Hart added: “Smashed it mate, go do it again.”
Now plying his trade at English League One side Cardiff City, David Turnbull commented: “Amazing, good luck ma boy.”
Taylor shared a heartfelt goodbye message of his own. It read: “Six years, 200 appearances, and 11 trophies later, all good things come to an end.”
“A chapter of my life that I will never forget. My experiences on the pitch have gone beyond anything I could have imagined. Just as importantly, off the pitch I’ve grown as a person; becoming a husband, and most importantly, a father. Walking out with my daughter in front of 60,000 fans was the ultimate highlight. It’s something I’ll remember forever.”
“Celtic truly is one of a kind. Every time I pulled on the shirt, I gave it everything. What an honour it has been to wear the hoops, I have loved every minute and have never taken it for granted.”
“A heartfelt thank you to every manager who trusted me and to everyone behind the scenes, these are the people who make Celtic.”
“I’ve had the privilege of sharing the dressing room with some incredible teammates. Not just great players, but great people. Many go through their entire careers without the chance to lift a trophy. To have won so much together with this group is truly special,a feeling no words can describe.”
“Lastly, thank you to all the fans who supported me along the way. It never went unnoticed.”
“I feel so fortunate to have been a Celtic player, and now I can watch on from afar as a Celtic fan. Thank you.”
