'Ted Lasso' team, characters to be featured in FIFA 23

The line between fiction and reality could not be more blurred now that EA Sports has announced that "Ted Lasso" and his club AFC Richmond will appear in FIFA 23, which is due out next week.

Ted Lasso and the fictional AFC Richmond will appear in FIFA 23, EA SPORTS announced.

That's right. An overly-cheerful Dani Rojas, an insanely talented Jamie Tartt, and an always-grumpy Roy Kent are set to grace your TV screen in the video game world while a khaki-wearing Coach Lasso calls the shots from the sidelines.

"[Playing FIFA is] genuinely the closest thing I've had to addiction," actor Phil Dunster, who plays Jamie Tartt on the show, told ESPN. "Normally, I would play career mode with AFC Wimbledon because that's my team. Then you make your way up to the top and it's great to see Messi playing at Plough Lane."

FIFA 23 is set to be released on Sept. 30.
