Telegraph: Chelsea hold round-the-clock talks to appoint new manager soon
Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

It looks like Chelsea fans will not have to wait too much longer to know who their next manager is going to be to come in and replace the departed Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentine left by mutual consent earlier this week after just one season as head coach at the club.

Things were hugely up and down all season for Pochettino, but many believed he had done enough at the end of the season to keep his job going into next season at the very least. Many Chelsea fans had flipped their opinions on him entirely and were ready to let him continue at the club next season.

But the Chelsea aboard, and Pochettino himself, had other ideas and plans, and their ideas and plans did not align enough to continue.

A decision was made for them to both go their separate ways, and that has left Chelsea chiefs once again on the hunt for a new manager. But there is no way they can let it take as long as the Pochettino appointment took, they cannot afford to let it go that long, and apparently they wont.

Round-the-clock talks

The Telegraph report Chelsea are holding round-the-clock talks and meetings as they work swiftly and efficiently to appoint Mauricio Pochettino’s successor as head coach.

Kieran McKenna, Enzo Maresca, Sebastian Hoeness, Thomas Frank and Michel are all of interest to Chelsea, and the club have already made moves to check on more than one of those candidates.

No firm timeframe has been put on the appointment process, per the report. But Chelsea’s fast start indicates they want to find Pochettino’s successor quickly and do not intend to take five or six weeks as was the case when the club appointed the now departed head coach.

This certainly sounds like they want to get it sorted out quick, which is reassuring at least.
