Bayer Leverkusen boss Erik ten Hag wants to reunite with Manchester United outcast Alejandro Garnacho during the summer transfer window. Garnacho played regularly under Ruben Amorim, but had a big fallout after his post-match comments during the Europa League loss.

Amorim has decided to sell Garnacho as Man United plan a squad overhaul during the summer, selling numerous unwanted players. United are facing a financial issue that has restricted their transfer budget and need to sell before they can buy.

United cannot afford a repeat of last season’s disaster, finishing 16^th in the Premier League, far below their immense stature. The horrible season ended with the Europa League loss to Tottenham Hotspur, combined with their arch-rivals Liverpool’s Premier League triumph.

Liverpool have now equalled United’s record of 20 league titles, which has left a very bitter taste among the fanbase. United have to make sure that they recruit the right players in the market while selling the unwanted players immediately.

According to TeamTalk, Ten Hag want Leverkusen to sign Garancho from Man United to bolster his squad before next season. The 20-year-old is available for an offer of around €60m (£50.4m) after alienating his current manager with a poor attitude.

United fans always have a soft spot for their academy products, but the Argentine has lost a lot of sympathy. Furthermore, Garnacho has displayed a lot of inconsistencies in his performance and contributions in the final third throughout this season.

The 20-year-old attacker made 58 appearances in all competitions for United last season, scoring 11 goals and providing 10 assists. The Red Devils cannot afford to give chances to inconsistent players, as they have learnt with English star Marcus Rashford.

At this moment, United fans have to trust Amorim and hope that the club will not regret selling Garnacho. United’s recruitment could dampen the loss if they use the potential selling price of Garnacho and purchase the right replacements.
