'Terms before the fee' – Journalist says Chelsea ‘hierarchy expect’ big deal to happen

Chelsea are on the brink of pulling off a big transfer deal and although some might be too excited about it, it really does look like it could be quite a significant deal to complete.

You would have all seen the multiple reports around yesterday suggesting that Chelsea were now very close to completing the signing of young Brazilian starlet Estevao Willian.

Reports just a couple of days back suggested that Chelsea were in talks and confident of signing the attacking midfielder from Palmeiras.

And now, our writer Simon Phillips has a small update on the situation via his own Substack website.

He says that Chelsea “wanted to agree personal terms before the fee.”

And the Chelsea “hierarchy expect it to happen now.”

It looks like Chelsea have pipped ahead of any competition in order to get this one done, and they didn’t want to lose out to Real Madrid again, who pipped them to Endrick recently.

Estevao is largely expected to be the next biggest thing coming out of Brazil, and you do not get nicknamed ‘Messinho’ for nothing. Chelsea are being smart here in my opinion, even if the fee they might end up paying will seem a lot for a young player. Moving ahead to bring in such players before they become £100m superstars is smart, and there is so much belief in Estavao and that he will become that world class player.

Never have I see that much hype over a player so young, so that normally does suggest that he is going to be that guy.

Chelsea already have Kendry Paez, another highly rated South American attacking talent on the books. So although things have been a little glum this season, the future can certainly look very bright for Chelsea if some of these buys come to fruition, and some of these players become the players that so many expect them to become.
