'That is a position we need to do something' – Enzo Maresca requests more new signings

Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has said that the club needs to make more new signings in one position he is short on in his squad.

Blues boss Enzo Maresca has already given his thoughts about new signings Liam Delap, Dario Essugo, and Mamadou Sarr who all join his squad out in America for the Club World Cup this summer.

And it looks like Chelsea are still trying to add another new defender to the ranks as well, with an apparent offer being rejected for a Serie A star this week and other such links that have come up in recent weeks.

There will be plenty more incomings and outgoings at Chelsea during the long summer transfer window that will reopen tomorrow morning on the day Chelsea play their first Club World Cup game of the tournament that kicked off in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Maresca in the USA

The Blues boss has been speaking to the media over night after arriving in the USA to partake in the Club World Cup this summer.

Chelsea play their first game tonight against Los Angeles FC in the 8pm kick off UK time, and they then face a gruelling post-season schedule.

More wingers please

Maresca believes Chelsea need to sign more wingers due to Jadon Sancho leaving the club.

In quotes picked up on X, the Chelsea boss said:

“Jadon [Sancho] is not with us so for sure that is a position we need to do something. We have Noni [Madueke], Pedro [Neto] and Ty [George] only as the proper wingers so something for sure is going to happen…”

We will absolutely see Chelsea sign a new winger this window, that is the most certain occurrence this summer.
