Tottenham Hotspur superstar Xavi Simons happy to be part of ‘tight’ N17 setup

Tottenham managed to salvage their transfer window after missing out on several targets by securing the signature of Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig on a long-term deal. And it is fair to say that the North London club might have landed a future superstar in the Dutchman.

The Netherlands international arrived at N17 after a string of high-profile spells at PSG, Barcelona and PSV. But it was in Germany that the 22-year-old made a name for himself. Under Marco Rose at RB Leipzig, Simons quickly established himself as a key player, with the Bundesliga side repeatedly relying on his creativity and composure in decisive moments.

His consistent performances in Germany have now earned him a move to the Premier League, where he will be looking to deliver his best football under Thomas Frank at N17 now. Capable of operating either as a #10 or on the left-wing, Simons gives Spurs valuable tactical flexibility. So far, the 22-year-old has been asked to operate from the left, and it is fair to say that the Dutchman has tried his best to make an impact for his new team.

Xavi Simons has no regrets about joining Tottenham

Tottenham managed to secure the signing of Xavi Simons after beating Chelsea for his signature at the eleventh-hour. The 22-year-old had already agreed personal terms with the Blues, but the West London club could not reach an agreement with RB Leipzig on the terms of the deal. This gave Spurs an opportunity to hijack the deal and lure the Dutchman to N17 instead.

And it is fair to say that Simons is not regretting the decision one bit after a strong start to life at Hotspur Way. Speaking to Hayters TV after Spurs’ UCL game, Simons said,

“If I’m honest with you, that’s why I signed here, especially the club, especially the coach, had a really big impact on the group. And obviously it’s my second week here and I can feel really that the group is really tight and together and that’s a really positive thing.”

The Spurs attacker added,

“He (Frank) was a big influence of course. For me, it’s really important about that. It’s him, the club, the players and my feeling of course has to be good and that’s what my feeling was. I’m just really happy to be here.”

Everyone knows Xavi Simons signed for Tottenham due to their Champions League status, as well as, the guaranteed game-time he would get under Thomas Frank. The Dutchman insisted that he does not regret the decision, as the squad is ‘tight’ and everyone wants to build on the Europa League success. Not only that, but Simons also added that he joined the Lilywhites to play under Thomas Frank and become the best version of himself.

Now, fans will hope that the 22-year-old manages to make an impact for Spurs this season. There is no doubt that he is one of the first names on the team-sheet under Thomas Frank, so all eyes will be on him to perform consistently and help the North London club compete hard on all four fronts.
