A player who allegedly got hit by a Chelsea player at the weekend has now spoken out on the incident in the aftermath.
It came in the Chelsea vs Brighton game on Saturday afternoon when tensions were high after Chelsea lost the game 3-1 at home. There was a lot of handbags and pushing and shoving on a few occasions as Chelsea got annoyed with the way they were losing the game.
Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo reportedly struck Brighton player Jan Paul Van Hecke during a scuffle in the game and could be facing some punishment for the incident.
But it sounds like it actually may have just been something of nothing and something that happens pretty much every game as tension rise and passion comes in.
Former Premier League referee Mark Halsey said he could not see conclusive evidence of violent conduct by Caicedo but expects both clubs to be charged with failing to control their players.
He told The Sun [cited by The Argus): “It appears there was an act of violent conduct on Caicedo’s part but, looking at the video, it does seem inconclusive.
“And VAR looked at the footage and felt the same that it was inconclusive. Now, the FA will investigate, they will look at it again.
“Both clubs will be charged with failing to control their players, there’s no doubt about that, but the FA will look at this and there may be retrospective action.”
Asked whether he remembered much about the incident, van Hecke told The Argus: “Not really. It’s just in the heat of the battle and it’s all good.”
Let’s hope that’s that then and no further punishment will come for Caicedo individually.
