Pep Guardiola has won the 2023 FIFA Best Men’s Coach award, beating Luciano Spalletti and Simone Inzaghi, and it has emerged that ex-Inter striker Romelu Lukaku didn’t vote for his ex-boss.

Guardiola collected the award on Monday evening. He was named the best coach for 2023, voted for by national team coaches and captains, as well as expert journalists and fans on FIFA.com.

FIFA has now released the voting lists from captains, journalists and coaches, and it emerges that Lukaku snubbed his ex-boss Inzaghi, who led Inter to a Champions League Final last term. The Belgian striker picked Pep Guardiola, Xavi and Spalletti respectively.

It is not entirely surprising, as Lukaku reportedly decided not to return to Inter last summer due to disagreements with the Italian tactician.

It was reported that Lukaku was disappointed that Inzaghi had dropped him for a Champions League Final against Manchester City in June, introducing him as a substitute from the bench in the second half.

Lukaku had scored seven goals in the last eight Serie A appearances last season and hoped to start against Manchester City in Istanbul.
