What are the biggest games in soccer? Well, for the most part, they are the finals of soccer cups and championships. However, it should be noted that the opening games of certain soccer championships can also be big matches. So, here are a few of the biggest soccer games to note down in your diary.

FIFA World Cup Final

The FIFA World Cup final is most probably the sport’s most significant game. It is a rare game, played every four years, to decide the winner of the FIFA World Cup. The FIFA World Cup always includes the best teams and some of the best players in the sport.

Great games have been played in the final, such as England’s classic against West Germany or Brazil’s triumphant victory against Italy in the 1970 World Cup final at the Azteca. There is usually some build-up before the game, with musicals and concerts held, such as Pavarotti’s opera in 1990. Then, when the game is over, the FIFA World Cup is handed to the winning side, which lifts and parades the trophy.

UEFA Champions League Final

Some may debate whether the best teams play in the FIFA World Cup final. That is because the best club teams can include a number of top international players and potentially eclipse the best national teams. In the Champions League, the best European club teams play to win the European Cup trophy.

Thus, the Champions League final is perhaps the biggest club game. It features the two best teams in the Champions League, the two best club sides, who play to lift the European Cup trophy. Unlike the World Cup final, the game is played each season, but the teams in the final always have great players.

UEFA European Championship Final

The final of the pan-European Championship is another of the biggest soccer games. Like the World Cup, the European Championship is staged every four years. However, it includes only European teams that play to win the Delaney trophy. The European Championship final includes the best two European teams. The winners of the European Championship final then lift the Delauney trophy.

FA Cup Final

The FA Cup final is a seasonal game and is the last match played in the English football season. Overall, the FA Cup has a great history, and so the final of this prestigious cup is perhaps one of the most exciting domestic cup finals. It usually features some of the best teams in English soccer, who have finished close to the top of the Premier League, so there are always some good players in the final.

The game also has quite a lot of ceremonies and traditions, with bands playing before the match, and the new Wembley is full of supporters for the final. Then, the winning team gets handed the trophy to lift and celebrate winning the FA Cup.

World Cup Opening Game

The first game of the FIFA World Cup is one of the biggest soccer games that includes the host nation against another team in their group, in what is the curtain-raiser game for the World Cup. These games also include an opening ceremony to kick off the FIFA World Cup, which can include bands, dancing, etc.
