The FA Cup final could provide the perfect ending to the 23/24 season for Manchester City
Xinhua

After the Premier League season ended last Sunday with Manchester City creating history, there is one more game left in City’s 23/24 season. The FA Cup final against Manchester United will be Pep Guardiola’s sides last game of a successful 23/24 campaign. Following last weekend’s events, the FA Cup final now looms large for Manchester City.

This Saturday’s showpiece final at Wembley will see Manchester City take on arch rivals Manchester United. It is a repeat of last season’s final where City prevailed 2-1. Any chance to get one of over their biggest rivals is a massive incentive for the world champions. The fact that there is silverware on offer as well as bragging rights just makes the FA Cup final a bigger occasion.

Manchester City will come up against a determined Manchester United on Saturday. Erik ten Hag’s side has had a disappointing 23/24 campaign. They finished 8th in the Premier League. Erik ten Hag’s side also finished a whopping 31 points behind Manchester City this season. The gap between the two sides has been evident across this season. City also emphatically won both derbies in the Premier League this season. Their 3-nil win at Old Trafford and 3-1 win at the Etihad further emphasised the gap between the two teams. But United will be determined to end the 23/24 season on a high note. While there is a gap in quality between the two teams, United will be aiming to end the season with silverware.

Manchester City will have to be at their best in Saturday’s FA Cup final. If they are, they can potentially end the 2023/24 season with 4 trophies. They have already won the Premier League, FIFA Club World Cup, and the UEFA Super Cup this season. An FA Cup triumph over the arch rivals would be the perfect ending to the 23/24 season.
