Celtic could welcome Daizen Maeda back to the squad in the final weeks of the season if rumours are to be believed. Brendan Rodgers is said to have revealed to fans that the player was back in training after a miraculous recovery from injury.

The Japanese attacker last featured in the 3-3 draw with Rangers at Ibrox, where he scored and picked up a hamstring injury. It was expected that his season would be over. However, in a social media rumour shared on Wednesday evening, the winger could be back in contention as soon as next week.

It would be a huge boost for Celtic if Maeda were to be back in contention for the Hearts game and the next four matches before the end of the season – including two potential season defining games against Rangers.

Maeda is undoubtedly unique in his tireless work ethic and it would be no surprise to supporters to see him back from injury before he is due to return.

Celtic are a much better team with Maeda in the team given his intensity in the press, which causes defenders an awful amount of problems.
