Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero has been linked with a move away from the club, and they have been urged to replace the player with Marc Guehi.

Commentator Ian Darke has urged the North London club to sign the Crystal Palace defender as a replacement for the South American. He believes that the 24-year-old is an ultra-solid defender who is going to be a key player for club and country in the coming seasons.

On the other hand, Romero has been inconsistent at times this season, and he has struggled with injuries as well. He believes that this would be the right time for Tottenham to make a change.

Tottenham urged to sign Marc Guehi

Commentator Ian Darke said to Tottenham News: “Romero has been patchy, he has been injured a lot of the time, and the time is right to make a change.

“I think whoever signed Guehi, if he were to be sold by Palace, it would be a superb signing.

“I think he is an ultra-solid, good defender who is probably going to be in England’s team for a while.

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham decide to sell the 27-year-old in the coming weeks. He is a top-class player who has proven himself in the Premier League and for his country. He produced a man-of-the-match performance in the final of the UEFA Europa League against Manchester United and helped his side secure Champions League qualification for the next season.

Cristian Romero is a top-class player

Despite his injury problems, he remains an indispensable asset for Tottenham. Replacing him will be quite difficult for them. Even though the Crystal Palace defender is a quality player and he would be a solid acquisition, Tottenham must look to hold onto their best players.

There is unlikely to be any shortage of clubs looking to sign the Argentine international if he is made available. He has been linked with Atletico Madrid in recent weeks. Manager Ange Postecoglou wants to keep Romero at the club as well.
