'They are looking…' – Fabrizio Romano makes Ivan Toney claim as Tottenham continue to be linked with the Premier League striker

Tottenham Hotspur are gearing up for the upcoming transfer window after wrapping up their Premier League campaign.

As summer approaches, Spurs are keen on bolstering their attacking options, particularly by adding a centre-forward.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the Lilywhites are considering several options, including a potential bid for Brentford’s striker Ivan Toney.

While the North London outfit isn’t alone in their pursuit of the Englishman; rivals Arsenal have also been tracking the player.

With Toney’s contract set to expire next year, a move appears likely, with Manchester United and Chelsea also showing interest.

Speaking to JD Football, Romano emphasised that Toney is a strong candidate on Tottenham’s shortlist.

The need for a new number nine is urgent, specially after Harry Kane’s departure from Bayern Munich last summer.

The Italian journalist said:

“Toney is another possibility, they are looking at central strikers. Toney is a name, but not the only one, they are looking at wingers.”

Valued at approximately €50 million, Toney represents an appealing option for Spurs.

The England international has consistently showcased his talent in the Premier League, making him an attractive target for manager Ange Postecoglou.

Last season, Toney scored 20 goals in 33 Premier League games, making him the third-highest scorer in the league, behind only Erling Haaland and Harry Kane.

Since joining Brentford, he has been their star player, contributing with an incredible 72 goals and 23 assists in 141 appearances for the club.

The 28-year-old’s ability to contribute beyond just goals makes him a valuable asset, capable of addressing several attacking deficiencies.

Given the uncertainty surrounding Richarlison’s future at the club, securing a dependable goal scorer is a top priority for Tottenham.

Toney certainly has the potential to fill the significant void in North London left by Harry Kane.
