Former Juventus coach Thiago Motta is the latest candidate linked with the Milan job for next season, along with Vincenzo Italiano and a returning Max Allegri.
The imminent arrival of Igli Tare as the director of sport would inevitably mean ruling out Maurizio Sarri from the list, because of their tense rapport at Lazio.
Italiano has emerged as the hot favourite, but he is under contract with Bologna until June 2026 and was today offered a new deal to 2028 at the Stadio Dall’Ara.
According to Sky Sport Italia transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, a new name on the horizon for Milan is Thiago Motta, who was sacked by Juventus in mid-March.
He lasted only 42 competitive games in Turin, fired after 18 wins, 16 draws and eight defeats, before he was dismissed to make room for Igor Tudor.
Before that, the 42-year-old impressed at Bologna, who he took to fifth place and qualification for the Champions League.
Allegri also remains on the backburner for Milan, as the free agent has also been linked with Roma and Napoli for next season.
