Manor Solomon set to be given chances to impress in Tottenham’s pre-season amid interest from Leeds United

Winning the Europa League trophy against all the odds was considered to be enough for Ange Postecoglou to keep hold of his job, but in reality, it did not turn out that way. After weeks of deliberation, he was shown the door.

Spurs have gone ahead and appointed Thomas Frank as Postecoglou’s successor, and Daniel Levy has wasted no time in showing his intent to back the club’s new boss by launching a sizeable opening bid for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo. Whether Brentford accept the bid and Mbeumo snubs Manchester United in favour of Spurs remains to be seen, but Levy’s intent is there for all to see.

Following Thomas Frank’s entry into the club, the focus has immediately shift towards the recruitment. Players that fit into the Dane’s system and playing style will be brought into N17, whilst the ones who are surplus to requirements are expected to be moved on. One player whose future at N17 is uncertain is Manor Solomon.

Manor Solomon spent the last season on loan at Leeds United, reigniting his career after an injury-ravaged time with Tottenham. He etched his name in the history books by scoring the goal that helped the Whites beat Plymouth Argyle 2-1 and clinch the Championship title last month. Following promotion, Leeds United are interested in signing the Israeli international from Tottenham in a permanent deal.

However, recent reports have suggested the 25-year-old will remain at the Hotspur Way next season, despite transfer interest. And now journalist Sacha Tavolieri has doubled down on those reports.

On his X account, Tavolieri claims Solomon is set to start pre-season with Tottenham next month. Frank is impressed with the fleet-footed winger and wants to “check out his ability in the pre-season campaign”, as he is expected to be a part of the Danish tactician’s plans this term.

This update suggests that Solomon’s time at Spurs is not over yet. Despite heavy interest from newly-promoted Leeds, the Israeli attacker may have a future at White Hart Lane provided he performs well in the pre-season tour and impresses the new Tottenham gaffer. The 25-year-old will be boosted by the fact that Frank is not discarding him right away and wants to give him opportunities to showcase his talent in the pre season.

Should Solomon do well, Tottenham’s plans of recruiting a left-sided forward could change given they are now close to agreeing a permanent €45m deal for Mathys Tel. This may lead to them focusing on investing in other problematic areas of the pitch, such as central defence and a No.9
