Tottenham Hotspur has been active in the January transfer window. The North London side, after having a busy summer window, did have the expected results in their favour. Thomas Frank has been looking to add more depth to the squad, as they have lacked creativity in the attacking part of their game. Spurs have listed some players that are of interest to them in the market.
Amidst all this, co-sporting director Fabio Paratici has reportedly been leaving Spurs to become the Director of Football at Fiorentina. However, according to reports from the Standard, Thomas Frank has admitted that Paratici is still involved in the North London club’s plans despite reports linking him with Fiorentina. The latter is set to become their new sporting director on a five-year deal.
“Good question, maybe you know… (who he is working for),” Frank, as quoted by The Standard, in his press conference held before Sunday’s Premier League clash with Sunderland.
“Fabio is Tottenham’s sporting director. I spoke to him twice yesterday. He is working very hard for Tottenham.”
The Danish manager, Johan Lange, the sporting director, and Paratici will work together to help Spurs succeed in what is expected to be a busy January transfer window for the London club. He continued:
“I just know when I speak to Fabio, who I spoke to twice yesterday, and Johan, who I spoke to this morning, the two of them are working very, very hard.”
Spurs are desperately looking for a player on the left, and their priority is to get the service of a winger. They have identified Yan Diomande, Savinho, and, as per Mick Brown, Omar Marmoush is also on their list.
They are looking for both short-term and long-term as per Frank’s policy. He further added:
“It always needs to be both players that can impact the team now, that’s the main priority…But at the same time, it’s not that we just stop signing teenagers because you need to have players with impact now and players for the long-term…Sometimes you sign maybe a young player who is good enough to play now, sometimes you sign a young player who comes in and you send him on loan and they are part of the long-term thinking. So it will still be a mix of both.”
Spurs will next face Sunderland, and even as the January window picks steam, the North London club will look to make some intelligent buys.
