When we saw Mason Mount wasn’t starting today, we were surprised.

He’s an important player for this team, has had a great season, and leads the team in goals and assists.

We could see Thomas Tuchel’s reasoning though, and rather liked the idea of Mount coming on fresh later in the game to try and win it.

But when Tuchel made his first changes – after 70 minutes – it was Callum Hudson-Odoi and Timo Werner who came on, not Mason. That was when we were really surprised. Those subs make sense on their own, but leaving the Mount out of the game is a big call.

Chelsea have now got one sub and are a goal down – will Mason be the third change? Or will he miss out entirely? If that happens, we will be truly shocked. It would mean our most consistent attacking player has not played a minute of our biggest league game of the season.
