Tottenham Hotspur have started putting plans in place for a very important summer transfer window.
The North Londoners have been working hard behind the scenes to ensure that the head coach has a highly competitive squad at his disposal to compete at the top end of the Premier League table next season, and the first step to a renewed squad is to get rid of the surplus. Daniel Levy has to ensure the deadwood and players with no future at the club are shown the exit door when the transfer window reopens next month.
Several players were let go by Spurs either on loan or permanently last summer. One of those to go out on loan was Manor Solomon.
Manor Solomon joined Leeds United in the Championship on loan for the rest of the season. The fleet-footed winger endured a frustrating start to life at Elland Road. A minor hamstring injury, coupled with the strong depth in the wing department, did not allow the Israeli international from establishing himself in the starting XI.
Over the festive period and the New Year, though, he found his feet at Leeds United. And since then, there was no looking back for him. The 25-year-old has played an instrumental role in the Whites’ automatic promotion to the Premier League. He netted the crucial goal in the 2-1 win over Plymouth Argyle earlier this month that handed Daniel Farke’s side the Championship title.
Solomon, after his success at Leeds, is now wanted permanently by Daniel Farke. The diminutive attacker looks likely to leave Spurs permanently this summer to seek regular first-team football elsewhere, and ex-Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson thinks that Leeds could be his destination, while also claiming that the North Londoners will likely get a good fee from his sale.
“If you’re Leeds, you go and sign him straight away. He’s been a vital player in what Leeds have done this year. And I think for Leeds now, they’ve got an opportunity to go and sign him early on, go and pay whatever it takes to get him out,” Paul Robinson exclusively told Tottenham News.
“Tottenham are in a position at the moment where they don’t know where they’re going to be next year, as in Champions League, European football, who the manager’s going to be. If I were Leeds United, I’d go in with a bid now and try and buy him straight away, because I think there’ll be other suitors looking at him. For Tottenham, yeah, I think he’s a top-quality player.
“Is he at the level that would make anything better in that Tottenham starting XI? He’s not going to push for a starting XI place every week at Tottenham. And I think for Leeds, they’ve got a good quality player who fits the system that Daniel Farke wants to play. So, from a Leeds point of view, go and get him, go and pay what it takes now, because it won’t be overly priced.
“You’ll get him out for a reasonable fee. And for the player’s point of view as well, I think he’ll probably look at that and go, look, I’ve had a fantastic season there. We’ll go again, and I know I’m going to play every week.”
Tottenham are expected to appoint a new head coach to replace Big Ange ahead of next season. A new gaffer may decide to keep Solomon in the squad and give him a chance to showcase his talent at Spurs. There is also the possibility of him deciding to move him on, given the Israel international’s stock is high at the moment following his exploits at Leeds.
The Lilywhites already have options out wide, so selling Solomon would help us direct those funds into our club’s summer transfer kitty. French side Marseille are also keeping tabs on his situation, with the Lilywhites valuing him at around €17 million.
