Todd Boehly clings to last 'two and a half games' in rare public words on Chelsea

We don’t often hear any of the Chelsea owners directly speaking to the fans, and that has actually been a pretty normal occurrence under any recent ownership to be honest.

But we should applaud when they do speak, and one of Chelsea’s current owners Todd Boehly, has spoken out in public this week in words that came out late last night via The Athletic.

Boehly, the general Chelsea ownership team, and manager Mauricio Pochettino have rightfully all come under scrutiny this season which overall has not been good enough.

But Boehly has been clinging on to the last two and a half games as an example of things coming together.

Boehly, who was not asked about the head coach during his interview, said: “We’ve seen the last two and a half games, at least in the second half at Aston Villa (2-2 draw) and Tottenham (2-0 win) and West Ham (5-0 win) where we played just beautiful football.

“It was so fluid, it was exactly the way we drew it up, when we came out of the back, built up and moved up the pitch, (it was) very organised and the number of shots we had on board. In those two and a half games, you could really start to see what we were working on coming together.

“Even the commentary has changed over the last two and a half games. I’ve never seen anything change so quickly.”

Personally I think we need to reign it in a little bit. What he is saying is correct, yes, but we have seen this in small moments this season and thought we had turned a corner, but then we would take two steps back again after that step forward. So let’s just remain a little bit cautious before we start getting too excited about any ‘commentary’ changing!
