Tottenham showed great resilience in their 2-2 draw against Manchester United. Bryan Mbeumo opened the scoring in the first half for the Red Devils, but the Lilywhites came out of the tunnel with a chip on their shoulders for the second half.
Mathys Tel scored in the 84th minute to bring his side level, and Richarlison scored in added time to send the hosts 2-1 up. However, to their dismay, Matthijs de Light scored a header from a corner kick in the dying moments of the game to snatch a draw for his side.
After a dismal 1-0 defeat against Chelsea last weekend, Tottenham looked like a highly improved side this weekend. Thomas Frank made the right call to introduce Tel in the second half, as he scored just five minutes after coming on. Frank also substituted Kolo Muani to make way for Wilson Odobert during halftime.
Odobert played a huge role in Tottenham’s second goal, as he attempted a curling shot from outside the box, which was headed in by Richarlison. Tottenham playmaker James Maddison, who is currently sidelined with an injury, took to social media to laud Odobert’s impact on the game. The Englishman commented’ Impact bro’ on an Instagram post made by the Frenchman.
Tottenham signed Odobert for a £25 million fee in 2024. As reported by Tottenham News, Odobert showed great ball retention ability last season, completing 84.9 per cent of his total passes. He has scored five goals and provided two assists in 36 appearances for Spurs.
In Tottenham’s injury-plagued season, Odobert has remained a key player for Thomas Frank, who continues to rotate between him and Brennan Johnson. Given Odobert’s impressive performances this season, it would not be a surprise if Thomas Frank opts to start the Frenchman in Tottenham’s upcoming matches.
As it stands, Thomas Frank made the right call by introducing Odobert for the second half against Manchester United, as he made an instant impact on the field and also registered an assist.
