Tottenham Hotspur make the trip to Norway on Tuesday night to face Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League. Thomas Frank’s side are looking to make it back-to-back wins in the Champions League, following their 1-0 success over Villarreal at home earlier this month.
The Danish tactician will be looking for a swift response from his boys in midweek after Spurs were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw by basement Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers. While the Lilywhites haven’t suffered a defeat in their last four outings, back-to-back draws in the Premier League have affected their momentum.
The stalemate against a struggling Wolves side felt like a missed opportunity, and even though Tottenham rescued a point deep into stoppage time via a Joao Palhinha curler, it was ideally two points dropped for the home side. The good thing is the north Londoners do not have much time to lick their wounds as they quickly shift their focus towards the Champions League.

Heading into the game, Tottenham’s options at the back are now limited. Along with Dominic Solanke and Randal Kolo Muani, Cristian Romero mysteriously was absent from Monday’s opening training session.
It has now been revealed by Thomas Frank that the 2022 World Cup winner has been left at home. When quizzed on the exact nature of Cristian Romero’s issue during Monday’s pre-match press conference, the Tottenham boss opted to say it was “just precaution”.
Aside from being rested in the Carabao Cup third-round victory over Doncaster Rovers, Romero has otherwise played every minute for Tottenham this campaign. Since been handed the captain’s armband following Son Heung-min’s departure in August, the Argentinean international has led the side extremely well and delivered consistent performances.
Romero and Micky van de Ven have been showing signs of finding their mojo back after the duo’s injury-ravaged 2024/25 campaigns.
With veteran Ben Davies only having returned from injury and Radu Dragusin still not available, Kevin Danso is a certainty to start alongside Micky van de Ven in the heart of Tottenham’s defence in Romero’s absence.
Since starting in the UEFA Super Cup against PSG at the start of August, Kevin Danso has mustered only 11 minutes of Premier League action thus far this season. The Austrian was handed a start against Doncaster Rovers in the Carabao Cup and he performed well, helping the north Londoners to a clean sheet. So, this is a great opportunity for the 27-year-old to step up in Romero’s absence and show his credentials.
Should Danso perform well at Bodo/Glimt, Frank may not risk Romero from the start against Leeds United on Saturday in the Premier League and stick with the Austrian international in central defence instead.
