Tottenham’s Premier League form has fallen below expectations in recent weeks, placing Thomas Frank’s job under increasing pressure. The Lilywhites dropped more points at home after being held to a draw by newly promoted Sunderland. Frank’s side started brightly and took a deserved lead in the first half through Ben Davies’ close-range effort.
However, the second half told a different story for the North Londoners, who struggled to impose themselves and were forced to defend deep in their own half. The Black Cats eventually made them pay, with Brian Brobbey finding the equaliser in the 81st minute. Despite Sunderland’s impressive form this season, the result felt more like two points dropped than one gained for Spurs.
The lack of attacking options within the squad has also raised concerns around N17. Thomas Frank is currently dealing with an injury crisis at Hotspur Way, with several attackers sidelined by long-term injuries. Dominic Solanke is yet to recover from his ankle issue and has not started a game for Spurs this season. Meanwhile, Kolo Muani has endured a stop-start campaign after suffering setbacks during his recovery.
It comes as little surprise that Tottenham are eager to add more goal-scorers to their ranks in the ongoing transfer window. The Lilywhites are keen to sign a striker who can keep Richarlison under pressure and compete with the Brazilian for a starting role in the second half of the campaign. With Solanke unlikely to return in the near future, the North Londoners appear open to identifying a long-term solution in the coming weeks.
Recent reports have linked Spurs with Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen as the club looks to strengthen its attacking depth for the remainder of the season. The Norwegian is reportedly keen on securing a winter move to one of the Premier League’s bigger clubs, with Wolves facing the threat of relegation. The same reports suggested that the Wanderers initially set an asking price of around €50m for his services midway through the campaign.

However, the bottom-placed Premier League side have since softened their stance on the 24-year-old. As per Ekrem Konur (via X), Wolves are now open to a winter sale and have lowered their asking price to around €40m, giving Spurs a potential boost in their pursuit. That said, the Lilywhites face competition, with Newcastle United, Fulham, Crystal Palace, West Ham, Everton and Nottingham Forest also interested in signing the striker in January.
Strand Larsen has struggled for form this season in a Wolves side battling relegation. The forward has scored just three goals in 20 appearances, making it difficult to justify the €40m valuation set by the club. He appears short on confidence and out of rhythm, raising doubts over whether he could make an immediate impact at N17.
Instead, the Lilywhites should turn their attention to alternative targets who can raise the level at Hotspur Way almost immediately. Spurs are prepared to back Thomas Frank in the transfer window, and the Danish tactician must identify a forward who can quickly adapt to his system and make a tangible difference. Recent reports have linked the North Londoners with Porto striker Samu Aghehowa, a move that appears to make sense on every level. The club should do everything possible to secure the Spaniard’s signature in the coming weeks.
