Tottenham among admirers of Motherwell midfielder who has been making waves

Tottenham Hotspur will face an uphill battle to lure Motherwell sensation Lennon Miller to North London this summer

Tottenham Hotspur were full value of their UEFA Europa League success on Wednesday, beating Manchester United 1-0 in the final in Bilbao.

It was a well-deserved victory for the Lilywhites, who ended their jinx of winning trophies. Ange Postecoglou has guided the club to continental glory, never shying away from the challenge after overseeing the North Londoners’ worst-ever Premier League season. The Australian’s future is still up in the air and he may end up getting sacked next month, but he has done his job of ending a long curse that made the club a butt of jokes.

Now, Spurs have the chance of making some solid moves in the upcoming summer transfer window after achieving Champions League football for next season. The club should now focus on building on the Europa League success and build a strong team to win more trophies in the near future. The success tasted in Bilbao would also prove to be a good springboard to kickstart a new era at N17.

Tottenham’s transfer strategy in recent years have been in investing highly-regarded prospects with a high ceiling. The acquisitions of Lucas Bergvall, Archie Gray and Wilson Odobert are recent examples of that, and it looks Daniel Levy is set to stay loyal with that transfer approach this summer as well.

According to an exclusive report from TBR Football, Tottenham are among a host of Premier League clubs interested in signing Motherwell midfielder Lennon Miller. However, Chelsea’s owners BlueCo appear to be stealing a march on their Premier League rivals in pursuit of the Scottish talent. They are working to take him to take him to French club Strasbourg, who are the Blues’ sister concern.

A product of the Motherwell academy, Lennon Miller enjoyed his breakthrough campaign last year when he made 32 appearances across all competitions. The midfielder’s development has been tangible this season, netting four goals and supplying eight assists in 39 games. He is a rising star in Scottish football, and the amount of interest garnered from all across Europe is a further testament to that.

Clubs such as Liverpool, Leeds United, Newcastle United, Manchester United, Brentford, Brighton, West Ham and Crystal Palace have all collected information about Miller, adds the aforementioned report. Italian sides like Bologna, Como and Atalanta are all keeping tabs on him, while Scottish champions Celtic want to lure one of the best British teenage talents to Parkhead this summer.

Thus, Tottenham face an uphill task to get the Motherwell prodigy’s signature. The Europa League victory would boost their hopes of landing Miller, although at 18, he may be tempted to join a club that will provide him with ample opportunities to play and develop. So, the lure of Champions League football may not be an immediate factor that’ll prove White Hart Lane attractive.

Given that young talents such as Bergvall and Gray, as well as a few academy starlets have broken into the first team, Tottenham certainly can be the right destination for the exciting midfield talent from Wishaw.
