Turkish champions Galatasaray are weighing up a move for Tottenham forward Richarlison but face competition from rivals Fenerbahce

Richarlison has largely flattered to deceive during his time at Tottenham Hotspur, showing flashes of brilliance only to be hampered by a succession of injury issues that have ended up stagnating his career.

Indeed, in three seasons at White Hart Lane, the Brazilian forward has featured only 90 times across all competitions, scoring 20 goals and adding 10 assists. The 27-year-old saw his minutes dwindle last term once again due to injury problems and no thanks to the summer arrival of Dominic Solanke, limiting him to just four goals in 15 Premier League outings.

As a result, Richarlison barely had opportunities to establish himself as the first-choice striker under former Ange Postecoglou.

Under contract with Tottenham until 2027, it is no secret that interest has arrived from different parts of the world. He has been heavily linked with a return to Everton in recent months, while there has been interest from cash-rich Saudi Pro League. Brazilian teams are looking into his availability too, but the priority for the striker is to stay in Europe.

Now, there has been a new entrant in the race for the Spurs man’s signature. According to Turkish outlet Posta, Galatasaray have stepped forward to express their intention to sign Richarlison. The Turkish champions are currently attempting to re-sign Napoli’s Victor Osimhen after his scintillating loan spell last term, but if they are unable to land the Nigerian, they are expected to press ahead with a move for Richarlison.

Spurs are said to have given the ‘green light’ for the South American frontman to join Galatasaray. They are willing to sell Richarlison or even loan him out, while the report adds that Jose Mourinho wants his club Fenerbahce to battle their arch-rivals for his signature. It is not known how much either of the Turkish clubs would be willing to offer the North Londoners for their player’s services.

Regardless of another injury-ravaged season at N17, Richarlison still remains in demand. Earlier this month, reports suggested that Tottenham had offered both Richarlison and Yves Bissouma to Fenerbahce. The Lilywhites offering the Brazilian international to Fenerbahce and now given a thumbs-up for him to join Galatasaray certainly suggests their desperation to get him off their books.

It remains to be seen what the ex-Everton and Watford man wants now, but our club’s intentions with the player cannot be any clearer.
