Tottenham Hotspur’s scouts have consistently monitored Championship talents for potential signings.

After being linked with Stoke City’s Wouter Burger, Spurs have now turned their attention to another promising youngster from the English second tier – Middlesbrough’s Rav van den Berg.

According to TBR Football, Tottenham are weighing up to make a move for the talented Dutch defender as part of their ongoing strategy to bolster their squad with young, promising players.

Van den Berg has enjoyed a remarkable debut season at Middlesbrough since his arrival from PEC Zwolle last year.

The teenage centre-back has emerged as a key figure at the Riverside Stadium, making 39 appearances across all competitions, with an impressive 37 of those being starts.

His standout performances have not gone unnoticed, with Van den Berg recently scooping both the Young Player and Player of the Season awards at Middlesbrough’s End of Season Awards ceremony, a testament to his impact on the team.

However, Tottenham face stiff competition for the Netherlands U21 international’s signature. The report claims that AC Milan, Dortmund, and several Premier League clubs, including Bournemouth, Brentford, Brighton, Everton, and West Ham United, are all reportedly interested in securing his services.

Interest in van den Berg aligns with Tottenham’s recent transfer strategy

Spurs’ interest in van den Berg aligns with their strategic approach of targeting young talents from the Championship.

The North London club has previously dipped into the Championship market with signings such as Ashley Phillips from Blackburn Rovers and Djed Spence from Middlesbrough, underscoring their belief in the league’s potential as a talent pool.
