Tottenham Hotspur might be open to selling Richarlison at the end of the season in order to balance the books.

Stefan Borson has revealed to Football Insider that Tottenham have a £20-30 million hole in the transfer budget due to their disappointing Premier League showing this season, and they could be forced to sell a player in order to sort the cash issue.

Tottenham have a cash issue

He told Football Insider: “They are £20-30million down on where their budget said they’d be.

“They’re going to have no option but to be quite restrained in the summer or sell players.

“Now, that’s not selling players for profit, that’s selling players probably for cash. What that means is that they can be fairly relaxed about the absolute amount that they get for a player like Richarlison.

“They can sell him for an amount that might not be an accounting profit, but which gives them the cash that they want to be able to invest in the squad.

“So, it’s not a PSR problem, but it might well be a cash issue.”

Richarlison has been quite underwhelming for the London club since joining them, and it seems that he could be on the chopping block this summer. The 27-year-old has not been able to live up to the expectations, and an exit from Tottenham could be ideal for him as well.

Richarlison needs to move on

He will look to get back to his best, and he needs to play regularly. Tottenham have not been able to provide him with that opportunity this season. A fresh start would be ideal for the Brazilian.

He has shown his quality in the Premier League in the past, and joining the right club could bring out the best in him once again.

Tottenham need to improve their attacking unit in the summer, and they might need to bring in multiple signings. Therefore, they will have to raise funds from departures. It remains to be seen how the situation develops.

The player has been linked with a return to his former club, Everton, in recent weeks. It will be interesting to see where he ends up eventually.
