Tottenham defensive target likely to play in London next season, but not with Spurs

Fiorentina defender Michael Kayode is currently on loan at Brentford, and the 20-year-old full-back has done quite well for them.

According to TBR Football, Tottenham were keeping tabs on the player’s development, but it seems that they will miss out on his signature. The report claims that Brentford have an option to sign him permanently for a fee of around £14 million, and they are ready to get the deal done.

The Italian defender will be playing in London next season if things go according to plan, but he is not heading to Tottenham.

Tottenham could have used more depth in that area of the pitch, especially with Pedro Porro linked with an exit. It remains to be seen whether Tottenham decide to sell the Spanish defender in the summer. He has been a key player for them, and his departure would weaken the squad.

Meanwhile, Kayode is highly talented with a bright future, and Tottenham will certainly be disappointed to miss out on him. However, it is unlikely to make a huge difference for them if they can hold on to Porro beyond this season.
