Journo says both Tottenham academy starlets Jamie Donley and Josh Keeley could leave the club on loan again

Tottenham Hotspur are preparing for a massive summer after an underwhelming 2024/25 Premier League season.

The North Londoners confirmed a lowly 17th-place finish in the Premier League after a 4-1 defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion at home on the final day of the season on Sunday. The loss to Brighton, which culminated to their worst-ever season in the top flight in the club’s history, came just days after Ange Postecoglou’s side lifted the UEFA Europa League trophy by beating Manchester United 1-0 in the final at the San Mames Stadium in Bilbao.

A finish just above the three relegated sides shows there is plenty of work to be done this summer. The squad needs a big clearout, despite success in Europe under Ange Postecoglou, whose future also remains up in the air. Also, decisions have to be taken over the players who are set to return on loan this summer.

Academy starlets Josh Keeley and Jamie Donley left Spurs to join League One side Leyton Orient on loan in August 2024. Both youngsters enjoyed a successful time at Leyton Orient, although endured a heartbreaking end to their campaign after a 1-0 defeat to Charlton Athletic in the League One play-off final at Wembley on Sunday.

Josh Keeley, in particular, endured a nightmare end to his loan spell at Leyton Orient as he featured in between the sticks during the League One play-off final. He has earned plenty of plaudits for his performances across 45 appearances for the O’s. However, Keeley’s time at the Brisbane Road ended on a sour note against Charlton, with a Macaulay Gillesphey free kick from distance beating him at Wembley Stadium.

Yet, according to a report from Football London correspondent Alasdair Gold, both Keeley and Jamie Donley have already caught the attention of several clubs looking to sign them on loan.

Keeley had a strong campaign in goal bar the play-off final, keeping 16 clean sheets in the process. Donley racked up 19 goal involvements in 52 appearances, most notably scoring a long-range goal in the 2-1 FA Cup defeat to Manchester City in February. While the pair were unable to make an impact on the all-important afternoon against Charlton last weekend, it does not take away from the fact that they enjoyed brilliant seasons with Richie Wellens’ side.

The Spurs boss is expected to include Keeley and Donley in the pre-season tour before deciding on their futures. Chances of them going out on loan remain high.
