Tottenham are looking to compete with Inter Milan for the signing of former Aston Villa winger.

Tottenham Hotspur have clearly underperformed during the first half of the campaign, dropping points against teams they would have been expected to beat. As a result, they continue to languish in the bottom half of the table, having won just two of their last 14 Premier League games.

The Lilywhites have been struggling to produce the goods in attack since the start of the season under Thomas Frank. And injuries to Mohammed Kudus and Richarlison, coupled with Brennan Johnson’s abrupt sale to Crystal Palace at the beginning of the winter transfer window, has not helped their cause either. The north Londoners are evidently lacking creativity, flair and goals, making it crucial for them to reinforce their attacking unit before the February 2 transfer deadline.

As things stand, Tottenham fans remain optimistic over the board bringing in a player or two to help Thomas Frank get out of this rut. And it looks like Spurs are planning to raid the Saudi Arabian market to bring in a wide attacker.

Tottenham plot move for Al-Ittihad winger Moussa Diaby

According to a report from The Independent, Tottenham are exploring a move for lightning-quick Al-Ittihad winger Moussa Diaby, but face competition from Serie A giants Inter Milan.

Moussa Diaby left Aston Villa to join Al-Ittihad in the summer of 2024. For Aston Villa, he played one full season, featuring in all 38 Premier League games and helping Unai Emery’s side clinch a fantastic top-four spot. The French speedster scored 10 goals and bagged 11 assists across all competitions during the 2023/24 season.

However, after 18 months in Saudi Arabia and helping Al-Ittihad to the league title in his debut season, Diaby is now open to returning to a Champions League club, providing a boost to both Spurs and Inter Milan. Tottenham have directly qualified to Champions League last-16 after finishing fourth in the league phase, while Inter were forced to settle for a place in the play-offs.

Blessed with explosive pace and quick feet, Diaby would be an ideal option to replace the injured Kudus in Frank’s XI. The France international can operate on both wings and provide the kind of flair that the Lilywhites have been desperately lacking to carve open well-drilled defences. He’d immediately enhance their quality in attack, whilst having compatriots such as Mathys Tel, Randal Kolo Muani, and Wilson Odobert would also help the 26-year-old quickly settle in at White Hart Lane.

With Inter pushing for his signature, Spurs must up their ante to lure Diaby to N17.
