The 2025/26 season is a little different for us. We are back in the Champions League, and this time, no coincidence, we have achieved this by beating Manchester United in the Europa League final in the 2024/25 season. The club are making decisive moves this summer. Now we have a new manager, Thomas Frank, and the style of football we will play is also bound to change. Frank’s aggressive thinking is giving the team a new look. Mohammed Kudus has already joined the squad, and Mathys Tel has also been transferred permanently, but the club might not stop here.

Tottenham’s situation have been mixed in the last few seasons. The team faced ups and downs during the era of Antonio Conte and then Ange Postecoglou. Being out of the Champions League, then the journey to the Europa League, and finally winning the title – this journey was not easy. During this time, many players came and went, but now, with a new thinking, the club are building a balanced and aggressive team. Every transfer seems to be happening as per a specific plan.

A few weeks ago, there were reports that Tottenham had activated Morgan Gibbs-White’s £60 million release clause. Even though the medical was ready, Nottingham Forest raised legal objections to the process. After this, everything stopped, and now Gibbs-White has signed a new three-year contract with Forest. Spurs have officially abandoned this transfer.

Jack Grealish in sight

Football Insider‘s report suggests that Tottenham are now showing interest in Manchester City’s Jack Grealish. Last season, Grealish got a chance in the starting eleven in the Premier League only seven times. He was an important part of City’s treble-winning in 2023, but last season, he remained on the bench most of the time. City are now ready to sell the 30-year0old, and Spurs are looking at him as an alternative to Morgan Gibbs-White.

The Englishman’s playing style is based on his dribbling, ability to draw fouls and ability to play on both flanks. Such a player can find a place in Frank’s fast, attacking and creative style of football. The special thing is that Grealish is a big-match player; he has proven himself on the big stage. However, he is now 30 years old and did not get much chance to play last season.

What should Spurs do?

In our opinion, signing Jack Grealish could be an interesting option, but there are risks in it. Grealish can fit the type of football that Thomas Frank wants. He moves the ball forward quickly, draws defenders and creates chances. Such a player can be very important in our system, but his reduced game time last season and injury chances are a cause of concern. Also, his high salary can make our transfer strategy a bit difficult.

Gibbs-White was a young option who also had resale value. With Grealish, we will not get this advantage. However, if City are willing to let him go on the cheap, this deal could be worth it. The club just need to work on squad depth so that we don’t have an alternative option if Grealish gets injured. Overall, this transfer could be a turning point for Tottenham in Frank’s new era.
