Tottenham Hotspur are considering a summer swoop for Real Sociedad star Takefusa Kubo

Tottenham Hotspur are entering a pivotal phase of the season, one that could ultimately define Ange Postecoglou’s campaign at the helm. The Lilywhites remain in the hunt for European silverware after overcoming AZ Alkmaar in the Round of 16 of the Europa League. Their next challenge comes in the form of German side Eintracht Frankfurt in the quarter-finals, as they look to keep their season alive and restore some pride in an otherwise difficult year.

It’s been far from a memorable campaign for many Spurs players. Injuries to key personnel have disrupted development and consistency, leaving Postecoglou with a thin and often imbalanced squad. The lack of depth in both attack and defence has only added to the challenges, making it an uphill battle for the former Celtic boss as he fights not only for results but also for his long-term future at the club.

Now sitting 14th in the Premier League, Tottenham Hotspur prepare to face Chelsea in a crucial London derby. With their domestic campaign all but written off, fans will be hoping the team can grind out a positive result and build some much-needed momentum ahead of their Europa League quarter-final clash. Ange Postecoglou will be looking to rally his players for the final stretch, aiming to finish the season on a high and restore some belief in both the squad and his long-term vision for the club.

Tottenham targeting Takefusa Kubo

Spurs are said to be in the market already to bolster their attack for next season. With the Lilywhites not managing to find the back of the net regularly, Daniel Levy has decided to bring in an attacker for next season and increase the chances of having a better season next year.

Tottenham are already active in the market as they look to strengthen their attack for next season. With goals proving hard to come by this campaign, chairman Daniel Levy is reportedly determined to bring in a quality forward to boost the club’s chances of a stronger showing next year.

One of Spurs’ top targets is Real Sociedad attacker Takefusa Kubo. The Japan international has long been on Tottenham’s radar, admired for his flair, creativity, and technical ability. However, they face stiff competition for his signature, with Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich also reportedly interested in securing the 22-year-old’s services.

However, TEAMTalk has reported that Liverpool are the favourites to sign the 23-year-old in the summer and see him as a potential successor to Mohamed Salah. Takefusa Kubo also has a release clause of £50 m set in his contract that gets activated in the summer.

A player worth bringing in?

Tottenham have suffered severely in the wide areas, with attackers misfiring and not being consistent enough. With Timo Werner’s future being away from N17 and Richarlison also looking to leave the club in the summer, it seems that the only sensible option is to bring in an attacker.

Takefusa Kubo has been brilliant for Real Sociedad in what has been a dismal season for the Spanish club. But the Japan international has not been amongst the goals as often, scoring just seven goals and providing four assists in 43 games this season. The 23-year-old has also managed to create nine big chances for his teammates and successfully attempted 60 key passes.

But is Takefusa Kubo the right fit for Spurs? On the surface, it may not seem like it. Tottenham’s biggest concern has been the lack of a consistent goal-scorer, someone who can find the back of the net week in, week out. Kubo, while technically gifted and creative, isn’t known for his prolific goal tally. However, what he does offer is a different dimension to Ange Postecoglou’s attack. His dribbling, vision, and ability to operate between the lines could add unpredictability and flair, traits that Spurs have often lacked in the final third.
