Tottenham Hotspur have had a summer of change so far with Thomas Frank appointed to replace Ange Postecoglou as the new boss. The Dane has brought in Kota Takai, Mohammed Kudus and Joao Palhinha to strengthen the squad ahead of his first season in north London.
The Lilywhites will be looking to build on their Europa League-winning campaign last time out and fight for major trophies next season. They need quality wingers at their disposal, particularly after the exit of iconic Son Heung-min, who has agreed to join MLS club Los Angeles FC after 10 years in England.
Richarlison’s future at the club remains up in the air, while Wilson Odobert is yet to prove himself. Kudus is a flexible attacker who can operate in multiple positions as per the demands of the boss, but that does not hide the fact that Spurs need more quality in wide areas of the pitch.
According to an exclusive report from GIVEMESPORT, Manchester City winger Savinho has emerged as a shock target for Tottenham.
Savinho caught the attention of several top clubs following an impressive 2023-24 La Liga campaign while on loan at Girona. The Brazilian played a crucial role in helping Girona secure a third-place finish, leading to the club’s first-ever Champions League qualification. His standout performances prompted Manchester City to spend £30.8m to sign the young winger from Girona in the summer of 2024.
The 21-year-old impressed with three goals and 11 assists in all competitions in his debut season at Man City, but with Pep Guardiola adding Rayan Cherki to his ranks earlier this summer, Savinho may have fallen down the attacking pecking order.
This has alerted Tottenham, with the aforementioned report adding that Savinho has been discussed internally as a player of interest. However, City are not actively looking to sell the Brazil international as Pep Guardiola views him as a key part of his squad at the Etihad Stadium.
Given the impact Savinho had in his first season in England and his high potential, it is not surprising that City do not want to sell him.
Spurs have shown an interest in the player in a bid to bolster their wide areas of the pitch. And a dynamic, unpredictable winger like Savinho would be a great fit in Frank’s system. He would not only enhance the Dane’s starting XI but also add quality depth to the squad.
If Frank is keen on having Savinho in his squad, the least Daniel Levy could do is ask for a straight loan deal. If it gets accepted by City, then great but if not, Levy must focus on other wide targets.
