Tottenham Hotspur have seen their amazing start to the 2023/24 season under Ange Postecoglou come crumbling down after losing their last three Premier League matches. Now, they have received even more bad news in the form of an injury picked up by midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur.

Tottenham Hotspur Receive Bad News Over Rodrigo Bentancur Injury

How Long Could Bentancur Be Out For?

The Lilywhites were unfortunate to see their Uruguayan midfielder pick up an ankle injury in his side’s loss to Aston Villa at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium after being victim of a rash challenge from Matty Cash. He had to be substituted soon after that and it appears that Bentancur is facing another major spell on the sidelines.

Fabrizio Romano has now stated that the midfielder is now set to be out of action until at least 2024 after tearing his ankle in the game against Unai Emery’s side. He adds that the recovery period could be around two to three months.

This is particularly unfortunate for the 26-year-old, who had only started his first game of the 2023/24 Premier League season for the Lilywhites after being out of action for eight months due to a knee injury he had sustained in the 2022/23 season for his side.

Tottenham Injury Crisis Keeps Getting Worse

Ange Postecoglou can’t seem to catch a break in terms of the injury problems that have been plaguing his side over the last few weeks. It all began with the injury issues that occurred in their loss to Chelsea in the Premier League. Micky van de Ven was unfortunate enough to pick up a hamstring injury that is likely to keep him out of action until the end of the year.

To make things worse, inspired summer signing James Maddison also confirmed that he will not be able to play before the start of the new year. Richarlison is also ruled out after undergoing surgery recently and the addition of Bentancur makes things worse for the side.

The Uruguayan midfielder, who was hailed as “special” for his versatility earlier this year, faces another road to recovery before being able to get back and help Spurs in the second half of the campaign.
