Tottenham face competition from PL rival for £60m rated Nottingham star

There is no surprise that Tottenham are aiming to bring in wide players in the summer. The Lilywhites clearly need good depth in the wide positions, and Daniel Levy will need to splash the cash to sign quality players. With Heung-Min Son’s future remaining uncertain and Brennan Johnson not having enough competition, Daniel Levy is aiming to bring in a winger that would elevate the quality of the squad.

It was reported earlier that Spurs were interested in signing Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest in the summer. The prolific winger enjoyed a stellar individual campaign last season, and has raised a lot of eyebrows in the Premier League. The aforementioned report also stated that Forest have no intentions of letting the Sweden international leave in the summer.

However, that has not kept other Premier League clubs from trying to test the waters for Elanga’s signature. Now, Tottenham face competition from another rival to land the 23-year-old. As per talkSPORT , Aston Villa have entered the race to sign the winger in the summer. The Villans are aiming to bolster the wide positions in their squad as they look set to compete in the Europa League next season.

However, Nottingham Forest will not accept a penny less than the asking price of £60m for Elanga’s services. This might put a dent in Tottenham’s hopes of signing the player. The asking price is deemed to be too steep for Daniel Levy, as the club chairman believes that Elanga has not shown enough in the top-flight to justify the £60m price tag.

Spurs have already shifted their focus on other alternatives in the summer. The Lilywhites are closing in on a deal to sign West Ham star Mohammed Kudus instead. Daniel Levy feels the Ghana international would fit Thomas Frank’s system perfectly and would prove to be a real difference-maker in the team.
