Fans will be hoping that Tottenham are proactive in the summer after ending the season on a high. The Lilywhites managed to win the Europa League last week against all odds after enduring a disastrous domestic campaign. Winning the competition also ensured Champions League football for next season for the North London club. Now, Daniel Levy must make sure that the right players are brought in as the club will look to build on the Europa League success.
Spurs attackers have struggled to make a consistent impact this season. Ange Postecoglou’s men have performed in ‘bits and pieces’ and that has affected the Premier League campaign massively. It is clear to see that the Lilywhites need to bring in a new attacker to bolster the quality of the squad.
The standout player for Tottenham this season was right-winger Brennan Johnson. The Welshman was the club’s top-scorer this season and he also registered the game-winning goal in the Europa League final against Manchester United. However, the 24-year-old does not have competition on the right flank and he is guaranteed a spot in the starting eleven.
Tottenham are looking to bring in quality attackers in the summer to bolster the squad depth as the North London club prepares for Champions League football next season. With Brennan Johnson lacking competition on the right flank, the Lilywhites are aiming to sign a prolific right-winger that could compete with Johnson next season and add a different dynamic to the attack.
It was reported earlier that Spurs were interested in landing Bretford star Bryan Mbeumo in the summer. The Cameroon international has been one of the best players in the Premier League this season and the Lilywhites wanted to bring his quality to N17 for next season. The aforementioned report had also suggested that the Bees value the 25-year-old at around £50-55m and would accept an offer in that region.
However, Tottenham are not the only club linked with a move to sign the Brentford star. As per Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United have also entered the race for Bryan Mbeumo’s signature. The renowned journalist has suggested that the Red Devils view the 25-year-old as the perfect player to operate in the number ten position in Ruben Amorim’s setup.
Daniel Levy might need to act quick if he wants to land the Brentford No.19 in the summer. Signing Mbeumo would mean that Brennan Johnson would lose his spot in the starting eleven next season. However, bringing the Cameroon international to N17 would be a step in the right direction as the Lilywhites would look to close the gap on their rivals.
As per Sofascore, Bryan Mbeumo ended the season with 20 goals and eight assists in all competitions for Brentford. The prolific winger also played a key part in helping Thomas Frank’s side finish the season strong. There is no surprise why the top clubs are looking to sign the 25-year-old in the summer. Mbeumo would also provide a different dynamic in the attack and link up well with Dominic Solanke if comes to N17.
