Tottenham Hotspur suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle United in the Premier League last night, and fans were thoroughly unimpressed with the performance.
Malick Thiaw scored the opening goal of the game for the visitors at the stroke of half-time, but Spur bounced back in the second half through Archie Gray. However, Newcastle secured their advantage just a few minutes later through Jacob Ramsey, and they managed to hold onto the advantage.
It has been a disastrous run for Tottenham in recent months, and they are 16th in the league table, with just two league wins since the start of November. Tottenham have shown a relegation form under Thomas Frank, and it is no surprise that the fans want him gone.
Tottenham fans made it abundantly clear what they feel about the manager with a chilling message during the game against Newcastle United. As Tottenham slumped to another home defeat, fans chanted for Mauricio Pochettino to return.
Jay Harris from The Athletic wrote on X: “Spurs fans loudly chanting Mauricio Pochettino’s name.”
The Argentine manager was a fan favourite during his time at the North London club, and he helped them push for the league title and reach the UEFA Champions League final. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham is willing to bring him back to the club at the end of the season.
Pochettino is currently the manager of the United States national team, and he is unlikely to leave before the World Cup later this summer.
The deafening message from Tottenham fans will be a huge blow to Thomas Frank and the club hierarchy’s confidence, and it remains to be seen whether there is a change around the corner.
