Tottenham given green light to seal loan for CONCACAF star; permanent deal on the table

Tottenham Hotspur have been offered the opportunity to sign Jonathan David on loan with an option to buy

Tottenham has been struck by an injury crisis this season. Several key attackers, including Dominic Solanke, Dejan Kulusevski, and James Maddison, are sidelined for lengthy periods. The injuries have taken a heavy toll on their performance, as Spurs are often struggling to create chances and find the net.

With their mounting injuries, Thomas Frank is expected to strengthen his attack by acquiring new players in the January transfer window. One name closely linked to the club is Jonathan David. The Canadian striker currently plays for Serie A side Juventus. David joined the Old Lady this season after scoring 25 goals and providing 12 assists in 49 appearances for French club Lille last campaign.

David is recognized for his versatility, striker’s instincts, intelligence, and prolific goalscoring record. With Richarlison and Randal Kolo Muani struggling to find their form, the Juventus man could be the perfect addition to Thomas Frank’s side.

The 25-year-old has yet to settle in at Juventus fully and has scored just 1 goal in ten Serie A appearances this season. According to Football FanCast, Spurs have made phone calls to enquire about David’s availability in January. It has also been reported that Tottenham’s co-sporting director Fabio Paratici has been given the green light to sign David on loan in January and make the switch permanent in the summer.

Such a deal would make perfect sense for Thomas Frank, who can assess his performance through the season before making any decisions to make the transfer permanent.

Tottenham’s injured players are set to return in the coming months, which will give Thomas Frank more squad options. If they also sign Canadian forward Jonathan David, Frank’s attacking choices will improve significantly.

After being eliminated from the Carabao Cup and their woeful displays in the Premier League, Frank will need to make strategic changes and recruit the right players in January.

There is little to no doubt about David’s ability on the football pitch. He has scored important goals against European giants like Real Madrid, Liverpool, and Atletico Madrid in the past. This showcases David’s ability to excel on the highest level.

Could Jonathan David spell trouble for Randal Kolo Muani at Spurs?

However, David’s potential signing could spell trouble for Kolo Muani, who has struggled to impress in his early days at N17. Spurs signed the French striker on a one-year loan from PSG, but with David’s hopeful arrival and Muani’s underwhelming performances, Tottenham may decide against making the move permanent in the summer.
