Tottenham Hotspur unlikely to convince Simone Inzaghi to replace Ange Postecoglou

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou is staring down the barrel of the gun at N17. The Australian arrived at North London with high hopes after a successful stint at Celtic. The 59-year-old started off brilliantly at the club as well and promised to play attacking football, no matter who the opposition was. The Lilywhites also managed to finish fifth in Big Ange’s first season at the club.

But it is fair to say that the ex-Celtic boss has failed to deliver in his second season at N17. Spurs have registered 21 losses in the league already and they are now 17th in the Premier League table. The fans have also grown tired of the negative results in domestic competitions and the support for Ange’s approach towards every game has quickly disappeared.

There is no ‘Plan B’ under Big Ange and that has quite clearly impacted the performances and results on the pitch. However, Spurs have managed to do the unthinkable by reaching the Europa League final this season. That competition is acting as a saving grace for the Australian, as winning the Europa League would ensure Champions League football for next season.

Tottenham unlikely to land Inter manager Simone Inzaghi in the summer

It is not a surprise that Daniel Levy has already started looking at potential managers that could replace Ange Postecoglou at the helm in the summer. It was reported earlier that Levy would sack Big Ange once the season ended, irrespective of the outcome in the Europa League final. One can say that it still stands true as the Lilywhites are linked with several managers to takeover the reigns at N17.

It was reported earlier that Tottenham were targeting Inter manager Simone Inzaghi as a potential replacement of Ange Postecoglou. The aforementioned report also mentioned that the Italian manager wanted to manage a team in the Premier League next season and try a new challenge after his successful stint at the San Siro.

However, the Lilywhites have suffered a blow in their pursuit of the 49-year-old. As per Tom Barclay of The Sun, Simone Inzaghi is set to stay put at Inter and fend off any interests from Tottenham. Barclay has also added that ‘soon-to-be’ Spurs sporting director Fabio Paratici pushed for a move for Inzaghi due to the close ties between the pair. But the Italian manager is all set to stay at the San Siro and continue his project.

Missing out on a brilliant manager like Inzaghi will surely put a dent in Daniel Levy’s plans for next season. The Italian manager has led Inter to the Champions League final this season while competing for the Serie A title. Winning both competitions would ensure his status as a ‘world-class’ manager and it will surely make his stock rise in the footballing world.

Now, Daniel Levy will need to focus on other managerial targets. The Lilywhites are linked heavily with a move for former Ajax boss Francesco Farioli. Levy believes the talented manager would be the perfect man to replace Big Ange and start a new era at N17 next season.
