Randal Kolo Muani has had a slow start to his time at Tottenham Hotspur, only making his first start in a white shirt away at Everton on Sunday.
Spurs have signed the France international on loan from Paris Saint-Germain until the end of the season. After making his debut from the bench against Villarreal in the Champions League in September, he was sidelined for a month with a dead leg. Before returning to competitive action, Randal Kolo Muani played 45 minutes against Watford in a behind-closed-doors friendly earlier this month.
The 26-year-old came off the bench in games against Aston Villa and AS Monaco, before finally starting his first game for Spurs against Everton. Thomas Frank rang the changes after the goalless Monaco draw, which saw Richarlison drop to the bench and Kolo Muani start up top at Everton. And the forward had a good game, helping Spurs beat the Toffees 3-0 at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Frank was pleased with what he saw from Kolo Muani in his first start for the north Londoners. Of course, he is still getting back to peak fitness and will improve on different facets of his game with time. The Frenchman is settling into life in the capital after injury held him back, giving the gaffer an option up top instead of solely relying on the inconsistent Richarlison.
Now, according to an exclusive report from Tribal Football, Tottenham will attempt to keep alive the possibility of retaining Kolo Muani’s services beyond his loan spell if he impresses. Spurs do not have a buy clause in the forward’s loan agreement from PSG, but it is something the Europa League champions will be keen to explore if he performs well across this campaign.
The Hotspur Way chiefs were delighted to bring the 26-year-old to White Hart Lane in the summer and feel they could persuade him to join permanently in 2026, the report adds.
It is clear that the north Londoners have started working behind the scenes for the upcoming January transfer window. Having been boosted with the fresh £100million capital injection into the club by the Lewis Family, Frank and Co. are identifying areas that requires addressing. Creating chances and scoring goals continues to be an issue despite the club signing several attacking players in the summer, so we expect the Danish tactician to target a creative midfielder and a striker in January.
As far as Kolo Muani is concerned, it is still early days in his spell at Tottenham to make an assessment. The dead leg held him back for a month but now he is back and impressed the gaffer with his display at Everton. If the 2022 World Cup finalist can keep himself fit and become a regular source of goals for the Lilywhites over the course of the season, the conversation of convincing him to become a permanent member of Frank’s forces would then make sense.
