Tottenham Hotspur are finally looking to make moves in the transfer window following the arrival of new boss Thomas Frank.
Spurs have already wrapped up the signings of Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel on permanent deals, with both players impressing on loan last term. But now, the Lilywhites are eager to invest in new faces to back Thomas Frank ahead of the 2025/26 season.
The Lilywhites need to strengthen in almost all areas of the pitch, but the midfield unit needs a revamp urgently. Under Ange Postecoglou, the central midfielders struggled to control games regularly. Experienced players failed to perform in the middle of the park when it mattered the most, with youngster Lucas Bergvall standing out.
Yves Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur are entering the final year of their contracts. Spurs are planning to cash in on Bissouma rather than hand him an extension. Selling the Malian international would create space in the squad for a fresh face to come in and compete.
Now, according to a report from French outlet DZ Foot, Tottenham are interested in signing Sporting Charleroi midfielder Adem Zorgane. The 25-year-old is valued at nearly €10m, with Belgian giants Royal Antwerp also keen on his services.
Signed from Paradou AC in 2021, Adem Zorgane has been a consistent performer for Sporting Charleroi and racked up 140 appearances, netting 10 goals and registering 25 assists. He enjoyed a strong 2024/25 season, making five goal contributions in 30 league appearances.
After spending four years with Sporting Charleroi, the Algerian international has recently expressed his desire to leave. Charleroi CEO Mehdi Bayat has also admitted that the player will have to leave at some point in the near future. The aforementioned report adds Tottenham scouts were particularly impressed with Zorgane’s display against KVC Westerlo in May, when Charleroi bagged a 4-3 win and their star skipper registered a crucial assist.
Tottenham should have no concerns matching Charleroi’s €10m valuation of Zorgane. Strong, agile and physical, the Algerian is an excellent ball-winner and covers a lot of ground for his team. He is tenacious in the challenge and keeps things simple in the middle of the park. The 25-year-old is the kind of profile Spurs are missing, someone who can sit in front of the defence and dictate the tempo of games.
While he may be a bit conservative in his passing range, Zorgane’s presence could give the Tottenham midfield much-needed balance and allow the likes of Lucas Bergvall and James Maddison to thrive in advanced areas. For just €10m, the North Londoners could land an absolute bargain and improve the depth of their squad.
