Tottenham Hotspur is doing everything possible within its power to land Atalanta BC defender Cristian Romero. Reports suggest that the 23-year-old and the London-based club have agreed to terms on a contract.

However, Tottenham has yet to agree on a transfer sum for Romero, who is coming off a successful 2020-21 season with the Serie A side leading to an Argentina national team call-up for the Copa America.

Managing Director of Football Fabio Paratici understands Romero’s potential, which is why the English club is ready to make an offer that they hope Atalanta doesn’t refuse.

CalcioMercato reports that Tottenham has put a €55-million offer on the table for the Italian club. With potential interest from FC Barcelona, the Premier League side isn’t messing around and wants to secure a transfer quickly.

However, time appears to be on Tottenham’s side, considering that if Barcelona wants to be in the Romero sweepstakes, they’ll need to accumulate funds.

Tottenham has their offer; it will be up to Atalanta to either accept or reject the proposal. Meanwhile, Romero is pushing for a move to England.
