A season of suffering has come to this as Tottenham Hotspur have made the big decision to part ways with their manager Thomas Frank. After parting ways from Ange Postecoglou after he got them European football at the last attempt, they hired pragmatic manager Thomas Frank and provided him with talent like Xavi Simons, Randal Kolo Muani, and Mohammed Kudus. Despite that, the former Brentford man has failed to live up to expectations and departs with his team nearer to the relegation zone than any kind of European spot.

Failure to Step Up

After making the move from the Bees, a lot was expected of Frank. He became known as a coach who could get the best out of the players available, capable of adapting to the opposition and playing defensively resolute football if needed. The idea was that with better backing and better players, he would be able to get a tune out of his new squad.

He made the move across London with a solid record of 41% winning percentage with Brentford but he has failed to make that scale up, winning just 12  of 34 matches since taking over the Lilywhites.

Some Embarrassing Displays

It is almost a surprise to onlookers that this relationship lasted as long as it did. The heat has been turning up ever since the derby run against Chelsea and Arsenal that saw Tottenham Hotspur post some of their lowest xG totals ever. The complete lack of attacking innovation or creativity is not what most expected when Frank was appointed.

Failure to get wins against some relegation-threatened sides like Burnley and Wolves coupled with the mediocre displays against major rivals has seen the team wallow in the lower embers of the Premier League table in a year where almost everyone has been inconsistent.
