Tottenham are hoping to return to winning ways in the Premier League as they look to secure top-flight status this season. The Lilywhites have sacked Thomas Frank and replaced the Dane with Igor Tudor. The new interim boss has been tasked with getting the players to play an entertaining brand of football, while also ensuring the club finishes in a respectable position in the league table by the end of the campaign.
The next objective for Spurs, after securing Premier League football for next season, will be to attract top talent in the summer. The North Londoners are clearly missing a reliable number eight in midfield to partner Conor Gallagher and Joao Palhinha. The ongoing injury crisis at N17 has also left the Lilywhites short of box-to-box midfielders for the remainder of the season, making it imperative that they strengthen that area in the coming months.
With Rodrigo Bentancur and Lucas Bergvall set to spend a lengthy spell on the sidelines, it has become evident that Spurs are being outworked in midfield by their opponents. This was one of the main reasons behind the Lilywhites’ struggles in transition and ball retention under Thomas Frank, as several experienced midfielders were sidelined by poorly timed injuries.
Tottenham need to remain proactive in the summer transfer window if the club is serious about competing for European qualification next season. The Lewis family must back the new permanent manager as they look to close the gap on their rivals. A significant financial outlay will be required for the club to climb out of the trenches and compete at the top end of the Premier League table.
That is precisely why the North Londoners are targeting a new midfielder in the summer. As per Fussballdaten (via Ekrem Konur), Spurs are among the clubs monitoring Dortmund star Felix Nmecha. The Lilywhites see the 25-year-old as a long-term solution to their midfield issues as they aim to dominate the middle of the park next season. Dortmund is also open to selling the German international; they consider their own Jude Bellingham, as the club prioritises financial sustainability, with an asking price of around €55m for his services.

The same report, however, suggests that Spurs may have to fend off competition from two other clubs for his signature. Both Chelsea and Manchester United are keen to sign Nmecha in the summer as they look to strengthen their midfields ahead of next season. The Blues have scouted the player extensively this campaign and believe he could serve as a key building block for their long-term project. Meanwhile, United view the 25-year-old as a direct replacement for Casemiro, who is expected to leave the club at the end of the season.
The growing demand for Felix Nmecha underlines the midfielder’s considerable untapped potential. That is exactly why Spurs should push to sign him as they aim to get back on track in the Premier League. He would complement Conor Gallagher in midfield, forming a strong partnership with the January signing as a dynamic box-to-box presence.
The asking price is not overly steep, and the Germany international would qualify as ‘homegrown’ upon arrival, thanks to his time at Manchester City’s academy during his early years. This could prove to be a significant boost for the Lilywhites, who have been looking to fill this position for quite some time. Nmecha would also add much-needed robustness in midfield, helping Spurs dictate terms in the centre of the pitch.
