Tottenham are linked with a move for Borussia Mönchengladbach striker Tim Kleindienst

Tottenham Hotspur face a massive squad overhaul once the season ends. The Lilywhites have endured a difficult campaign and the players seem to be out of depth at N17. Ange Postecoglou is also under tremendous pressure to save his job and it is looking likely that the Australian manager will leave the club in the summer.

Many forwards have underperformed this season and Daniel Levy must cash in on them in the summer before it is too late. Richarlison has missed most parts of the campaign due to injury and has fallen down the pecking order under Ange Postecoglou. Mathys Tel has also struggled to get going and has failed to make an impact since arriving on loan in January from Bayern Munich.

Last summer’s statement signing Dominic Solanke has endured a difficult first season with the club as well. However, the England international has found his goalscoring touch in recent games. Ange’s men can still finish the season on a high as they are in contention to win the Europa League and end the 17-year-long trophy drought at the club.

Tottenham plan on signing Borussia Monchengladbach striker Tim Kleindienst

Tottenham forwards face an uncertain future at the club. Richarlison is heading for the exit doors at N17. The Brazil international is tipped for a return to Everton in the summer. There are question marks over Mathys Tel’s future as well. Spurs want to sign the Frenchman permanently in the summer, but the Lilywhites believe the asking price is high and are negotiating new terms with Bayern Munich.

Now, Spurs are interested in signing Tim Kleindienst from Borussia Mönchengladbach. The 29-year-old is open for a move in the summer as he wants to play for a bigger club. Kleindienst wants to represent Germany at the next World Cup and believes that playing for a big club in Europe would increase his chances of getting selected for the national team.

However, Tottenham will need to fork out €28m if they want to sign the prolific striker. Also, the Lilywhites are not the only ones interested in his services. Many top clubs in Germany are also interested in signing the 29-year-old. Kleindienst also wants to play in the Champions League, so Ange’s men will need to qualify for the competition if they want to sign the German striker.

Is Tim Kleindienst a good fit for Tottenham?

Borussia Mönchengladbach are sitting 9th in the Bundesliga table and it is unlikely that the club will play European football next season. However, Tim Kleindienst is having a season to remember for the German club. The prolific striker has been in scintillating form and it is fair to say that he has been one of the standout players for Gerardo Seoane’s side.

As per Sofascore, the German striker has scored 16 goals and provided eight assists in 32 games this season. The 29-year-old has also created 11 big chances for his teammates and attempted 30 key passes. Kleindienst has also registered 13 successful dribbles for the German club.

Should Tottenham sign Kleindienst? The answer is no. The Lilywhites should focus on signing a young player instead. Kleindienst is 29 years old and he is at the latter stages of his career. Forking out €28m for him does not make sense. The striker will not fit into Ange’s plans as well. He struggles to pass, cannot link-up play with other forwards and is not good at recovering possession in the final third.
