One of the first problems that Tottenham needs to address in the transfer market is the backline. The Lilywhites have struggled to keep their main defenders fit for most parts of the campaign, and that has costed Ange Postecoglou dearly in the Premier League. The North London club finished the season just a place above the relegation zone and it is fair to say that a lot of work is left to be done heading into the summer.

The Lilywhites need to bring in defensive reinforcements in the summer after a dismal domestic campaign. The lack of quality defenders in the squad put Spurs on the backfoot from the get-go and the injury crisis at the club did not Big Ange’s cause either. Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven missed most parts of the campaign after struggling to stay fit.

Backup defenders Kevin Danso and Radu Dragusin also suffered a setback after enduring long-term injuries midway through the season. This forced Ange Postecoglou to field inexperienced players at the back for crucial games against tough opposition. The lack of leadership and experience at the back exposed a lot of problems in the team while defending.

There is a clear need to bring in a quality defender in the summer after a disastrous Premier League campaign. The Lilywhites are all set to lose some key players in the transfer window, and Daniel Levy is looking to replace them with quality players before the start of next season. With Cristian Romero facing an uncertain future at N17, Spurs are looking to bring in a new player that could fill the defensive void left behind by the Argentine.

As per CalcioNapoli24, Spurs are interested in signing Amir Rrahmani from Napoli in the summer. The Lilywhites are strong admirers of the 31-year-old and believe that he would be an ideal fit at N17. The Kosovo international played a crucial part in helping Napoli win the Serie A title this season, featuring in all the league games under Antonio Conte.

However, Tottenham are not the only ones interested in signing the centre-back. The aforementioned report suggests that several Saudi clubs are also interested in Rrahmani’s services for next season. Napoli have no intention of losing the defender and have opened new contract talks to keep him at the club for next season.

It remains to be seen whether Spurs can land the Kosovo international in the summer or not. But it is fair to say that the centre-back would be a perfect fit at N17 under Ange Postecoglou. Whether that will be the same under his successor remains to be seen.

The Napoli defender likes to engage in aerial duels and he is strong in 1v1’s as well. Rrahmani also tends to thrive with the ball in his feet, as he possesses a good passing range and can break the press with a long ball.
