Tottenham Hotspur face fierce competition from Premier League rivals to sign RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko

Tottenham Hotspur are preparing for a busy summer window as they look to bolster their squad after a torrid 2024/25 campaign.

The Lilywhites did strengthen the squad in the January transfer window with three new faces, adding Kevin Danso, Antonin Kinsky and Mathys Tel to Ange Postecoglou’s roster.

Tel was signed on loan from Bayern Munich on the January transfer deadline day to offer cover for club-record signing Dominic Solanke. Spurs chiefs were forced to bring the Frenchman in owing to Richarlison’s continued unavailability. The North Londoners are reportedly planning to offload Richarlison at the end of the season, and while they want to sign Tel permanently from Bayern, the club are seemingly eyeing another striker ahead of the 2025/26 season.

According to an exclusive report from GIVEMESPORT , Tottenham are keeping tabs on Benjamin Sesko’s situation at RB Leipzig. The centre-forward has given signals that he is ready to leave RB Leipzig this summer for a fresh challenge, having seen the club drop out of the Champions League qualification places during a tough campaign in the Bundesliga.

The Slovenian, one of the most coveted young strikers across Europe, has a release clause that can be activated this summer. The release clause is variable depending on the number of appearances, goals and assists he delivers between now and the end of the campaign. The buyout clause is currently £62m.

Benjamin Sesko has crossed last season’s tally of 18 goals in all competitions for RB Leipzig. He has scored 19 goals and supplied six assists in 39 appearances thus far this campaign, enhancing his stock further. This has also brought him to the attention of Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Liverpool.

However, the aforementioned report adds that Arsenal are the frontrunners for the 21-year-old’s signature. The Gunners want to bolster their strike force with the acquisition of Sesko, who is interested in a switch to the Premier League.

Arsenal being among the most likely destinations if Sesko decides to quit Leipzig in the summer is a big blow to Tottenham’s pursuit of the striker. The Mikel Arteta-managed club are likely to fall short again to win the Premier League title but they remain ahead of us in terms of the structure, recruitment model, overall squad quality and depth and finances. Plus, they appear to be in a strong position to qualify for the Champions League again.

So, for Tottenham to give themselves a chance of landing Sesko, Ange and his boys have to win the Europa League trophy in May. Champions League football will be a huge factor in luring the highly-rated Slovenian to the white half of North London.
