Tottenham manager Thomas Frank has sparked speculation over a sensational Harry Kane return after admitting he would welcome the England captain back to north London.
Kane, who left Spurs for Bayern Munich in the summer of 2023 in a deal worth a reported £100M-plus ($134.5M), remains under contract in Germany, but Frank’s comments, coupled with ongoing reports of a release clause, have reignited talk of a potential comeback.

"There are a lot of Tottenham fans, including myself, who would like to see Kane back," Frank told reporters, via Sky Sports. "Personally, I don't think he will do it right now, if I'm honest.
He'll probably stay in Bayern [Munich] and continue performing well. He was the top scorer last year. He won the title and he's doing fantastic now. I don't know what he's thinking. Myself, I'm a traveler, I like to explore things as well, so he's been here for many years, so why not enjoy the time in Bayern a little bit more.
But he's welcome. If he wants to join us, he's more than welcome."
Kane, 32, has been prolific since arriving in Munich, scoring 98 goals in 103 appearances and lifting the Bundesliga title in his second season.
He remains central to Vincent Kompany’s side, already tallying 13 goals this campaign, but speculation has intensified with reports of a £56.7M ($76.2M) release clause that could be triggered as early as January or next summer.
Tottenham are believed to hold a “first option” clause, giving them priority if Kane chooses to return to the Premier League. For Spurs, the prospect of reuniting with their all-time leading scorer is understandably tempting.
Kane netted 280 goals in 435 appearances for Tottenham, cementing his status as one of the Premier League’s greats. His exit left a void the club has yet to fully fill, even as progress continues under Frank.
A comeback would not only bring goals but also further energize a fan base that saw its 17-year trophy drought end with victory in the 2025 Europa League final and now celebrates a return to the Champions League.
There are, however, clear obstacles. Kane has expressed satisfaction in Munich, where he competes for silverware at the highest level. Bayern, too, would be reluctant to part with their talisman. Any move would depend on timing, financial feasibility and, above all, Kane’s own wishes.
Whether or not a reunion materializes, Frank’s remarks highlight the enduring bond between Kane and Tottenham. Even as he thrives in Germany, speculation over a homecoming refuses to fade.
With a release clause looming and his contract running until 2027, when he will be 34, the dream of seeing Kane back in a Spurs shirt can no longer be dismissed outright.
