Tottenham might have an edge over Euro giants in the race to sign 15-goal target

Tottenham have the upper hand in their pursuit of Albert Gudmundsson.

The North London club are looking to reinforce their attack in the summer. Their priority is to sign someone who can add goals to the side and help take the next step under Ange Postecoglou.

Tottenham are interested in signing Albert Gudmundsson and according to Corriere dello Sport via SportWitness, Spurs might have an edge over Inter Milan and Juventus in the race for his signature.

Gudmundsson has gone on to another level since joining Genoa from AZ Alkmaar in the winter of 2022. He has featured in a total of 83 matches for the Italian outfit and has contributed towards 39 goals. In the ongoing season, he has 15 goals and four assists in his 33 outings.

The 26-year-old has attracted a lot of attention thanks to his consistent performances. Juventus and Inter Milan are two clubs that are quite impressed by Gudmundsson’s performances and would love to have him at their disposal.

While both Italian giants are keen on his signature, the report suggests they will find it very difficult to land him with Tottenham keen on his signatures.

With three years still left on his contract at the club, Genoa are looking for a fee of around €40 million. Inter and Juventus do not have the financial muscle to pay the asking price. If Tottenham decide to fork out the asking price this summer, the Italian clubs wouldn’t be able to compete.

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham take advantage of the situation and step up their efforts to sign the Icelandic international at the end of the season.
